4703 [Winfield] Elizabeth James of Bradmore who died July 28th 1809 aged 17 years. When from the dust of death I rise To claim my mansion in the skies, This only this shall be my plea, Jesus hath liv’d hath dy’e for me.

This young woman was a signal instance of the power of Divine grace and an encouraging proof the beneficial tendency of Sunday school. By disposition uncommonly careless and intractable, she became by the blessing Christ humble modest and pious.
This happy change which took place in her conduct, her patience and resignation during a long and painful illness and her triumphant departure in the faith of her Redeemer hold out to the young especially an admiring invitation to become followers of her as she was of Christ. In memory of esteem for her while living and token of affectionate remembrance of her tho’ dead her fellow scholars erected this tombstone at their joint expense. Reader, is this not a brand plucked out of the fire. Glorify God in her. And made thy own calling and election sure.

Readers farewell, prepared thyself to die. Whom Death has conquered in the dust must lie, Until thy Saviour in the Clouds does come, With Saints and Angels brighter than the Sun, To judge the World , and give eternal rest. To those who feared here on Earth the best, All which believed when living here like thee: Therefore prepare thyself to follow me. Where Saints and Angels Hallelujah sing, Holy Great God!
